Blog #3 Inclusive design

First, for interactive learning resources, I think the most important thing is to communicate with my learners. Like the topic we discussed in our second blog post, modern education has moved away from soup-based teaching, and teachers need to devise more ways to help students more vividly understand what they’re learning.

So I will adopt the method of real-time teaching. If there is a highly contagious situation, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessity of online teaching, I will try to adopt the method of weekly fixed video lectures, considering that some students may not be stable The Internet supports their real-time online interaction, and I will also record the content of each class, which not only facilitates the students who cannot access the Internet to study smoothly, but also facilitates the students with language barriers (such as non-native English, language with certain communication barriers) , independent living) repeated viewing and learning.

In my blueprints, I teach students to watch relevant learning videos on apps like YouTube. This method was chosen because YouTube has the ability to translate subtitles, allowing students to choose their native language for reference and understanding. The app is available on mobile phones and computers, and is suitable for students who do not have a computer.

In view of the current online teaching environment, I will insist on creating an Office hour at a fixed time every week to solve the problems of students online in real time. Considering that students cannot enter the live real-time, I will also set up a discussion thread. The discussion here Let everyone see, and also avoid the situation that I did not reply to the questioner in time.

Finally, there will be a presentation and a quiz to test students’ academic performance in this class. Through exams and speeches, I can learn how the students understand the course and what areas I need to improve, which will be very helpful for my future teaching.

You provided many good strategies to ensure that your course meets the needs of diverse learners, e.g., non-English language speakers. Giving students pre-recorded lectures gives them the flexibility to watch them at their own pace. You may also want to consider creating a schedule, to help students manage their time effectively. How would you ensure the course is accessible for students with special accommodation requests? What specific Universal design principles can help accommodate their needs?

Hi, Claire. I think your topic is very interesting. Through experiential teaching methods, students can learn French better. I think that to learn a new language requires students to participate in the whole discussion every day, so that students can , or they are curious about some things, they can make their own memory deeper through learning, in addition, I think the teaching mode you mentioned is very reasonable, which greatly increases the number of people who want to learn French, and this arrangement will not affect the usual They can also learn new knowledge at work. Your whole big frame is very good, hope to see your Powerpoint in the future.
